A Shropshire Lad & Beating the Heat!

Boy it's been hot! Whew! I hope ya'll are keeping cool out there. A post of one of my David Austin Roses, "A Shropshire Lad." Isn't it gorgeous? The fragrance is unbelievably enticing, and sweet. Yummy...to say the least. My lavender did not due well this years (grumble, grumble) as the spring was so wet, their feet got soggy.

Meet Dash! This is my neighbor's puppy, who comes by every morning as I am gardening to get right into my business. After a pet, and a few trips to the back of the house to dump weeds (yes weeds grow fantastically here), she's ready for a dip. Plop! Right into the rain water held in the pig pot! She's a real cutie pie!

Some days, I even feel like joining her!

  1. Sharon this is a gorgeous rose! Oh how I wish David Austin roses would over Winter here!
The picture of the pup made me laugh. So cute!
    sending hugs...

  2. I am here at my camper in the woods and this is a wonderful place to keep cool in the summer. Circumstances have kept me away for most of the month so it's great to be here. I love the roses and that sweet puppy too. What a nice visitor to have greet you in the morning. My weeds are taking over my flowers. It's been too hot for me to work outside much. Have a wonderful weekend.

  3. I would be tempted to join her as well. Love the roses!! Gorgeous!

  4. Dear Sharon ~~ Beautiful rose and a cute and sensible puppy visitor. Funny how the weeds always grow the biggest and best. Thanks for your visit to my blog and I am glad you enjoyed the jokes. Geoff often comes and does some gardening for me. He lives 2 hours away. I think the lemon tree is about 5 years old, and has really grown tall and well, but no fruit. I will get some different food for it. My trip to the heart doctor went well and we will see if there is any change in three months. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers, my dear friend. Lovely to see you back, but then you are a busy lady. Love and Hugs, Merle.

  5. So love that beauty ... what a pretty pink. I don't have any David Austin's yet, but will next year.

Would you be so kind to leave a comment on my BLOG ONLY, for the Miracle Makeover fund drive. Charlie, 8 yr. old, & his story are fabulous. Every comment brings us a $1 for the next person that will be sponsored.

    Have a beautiful weekend.
    TTFN ~

  6. Now isn't she precious! You go black & white with the photo and it would be spectacular!! Love the roses, my friend... gorgeous! Tammy
